Real Stories of Benedictine Life
Hear directly from the monks of Saint Vincent Archabbey. In this video we share candid insights into the challenges, the blessings, and the profound peace found in monastic life. Watch the video below to begin discerning what life in the monastery truly looks like.
Our Mission at Saint Vincent College
The monastic life at Saint Vincent Archabbey is rooted in the Benedictine tradition of Ora et Labora (Prayer and Work). While our primary work is the life of prayer and communal worship, we also fulfill our vow of stability through active apostolates, which are the specific works entrusted to us.
Our most significant apostolate has been the education and formation of future leaders through Saint Vincent College.
The vast majority of our monks are asked to serve in some capacity at the college. This service may include roles as professors, administrators, staff or campus ministries.
Our mission extends directly into the classrooms, residence halls and athletic fields of Saint Vincent College.
More Ways to Connect with Saint Vincent Archabbey, College & Seminary
Find Rest for Your Soul
We offer numerous spiritual retreats throughout the year, led by our Benedictine monks. Whether you are seeking deeper faith, reflection, or simply a break from the world, our retreats provide opportunities for prayer and renewal. Programs vary in length, from one-day experiences and weekend programs to more intensive experiences, all rooted in the Benedictine tradition.
Deepen Your Faith and Calling
While preparing men for the priesthood is a primary mission of the Seminary, we also extend our theological education through graduate programs open to all. Our monks serve as key faculty members, bringing the Benedictine tradition and deep spiritual insight directly into the classroom. We offer the Master of Divinity and several Master of Arts programs in theological studies and lay ministry.
In addition, the Institute for Ministry Formation (IMF) is an extension of our Seminary dedicated to providing intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral programs for clergy, religious, and lay students involved in Catholic ministry. We offer flexible programs, primarily online, including graduate Certificate Programs (like Spiritual Direction and Catholic Theology) and the Master of Arts in Ministry degree.
Join the Benedictine Family
We guide the Saint Vincent Archabbey Oblates: laypersons and diocesan clergy who desire to live the spirit of the Rule of Saint Benedict in their everyday homes and professions. We invite you to explore this path for deeper spiritual commitment as a part of our extended family.
Visit Sacred Lands Far and Wide
We extend our spiritual ministry by organizing transformative, faith-filled pilgrimages to international holy sites. Our monks lead groups to destinations like Ireland and sections of the Camino Santiago de Compostela in Spain. These trips are a blend of prayer, reflection, cultural exploration, and community building, providing a unique spiritual experience we want to share with you.
Bring Benedictine Wisdom Home
The Benedictine tradition values work and creativity. We carry on this tradition through various endeavors. You can find our monks involved in creative pursuits, including stained glass, homemade goods, and writing books. We sell our goods and publications online and directly at our stores!
