Father Canice McMullen, O.S.B.

Father Canice (Daniel) McMullen, O.S.B., is the son of Craig and Ruth McMullen of State College. He is one of four children, including Sara and Marc McMullen of State College and the late Jared McMullen.

He attended Our Lady of Victory Elementary School and is a 2006 graduate of State College Area High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University in 2010. While at Penn State he was a member of the Newman Club, led the Bread of Life Prayer Group and participated in Helping Across the Community, a volunteer club.

He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey in 2010 and made simple profession of vows on July 10, 2011, when he began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2011. He professed solemn vows on July 11, 2014. He was ordained to the diaconate on May 28, 2016 by Most Rev. Edward C. Malesic, Bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg, at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. Bishop Malesic ordained him to the priesthood on May 20, 2017 at the Basilica.

He served as assistant to the Business Office (2011-2012), the Archabbey Investment Committee (2011-present), and assistant to the director of Archabbey Finances and Investments (2012-present).  He served as sacristan (2012-2017), and assistant to the master of ceremonies for the Saint Vincent Archabbey (2011-2017), socius of novices (2015-2017), assistant to the director of vocations (2011-2013), and associate to the director of vocations (2013-present). In 2017 he was appointed assistant director of Campus Ministry at Saint Vincent College and a Benedictine resident in Saint Benedict Hall. From 2017-2018 he served as Assistant Director of Campus Ministry at Saint Vincent College and was a Benedictine resident in Saint Benedict Hall. In 2018 he was named Campus Minister at Seton Hill University.
